A. Fitchpatrick. She was a woman loved for her kindness and good works and was always a ready and willing worker in times when it was required to help Story county, Nevada or any deserving individual. Harriet Victoria Pierce was born January 18, 1842, in Onandaga county, New York; was married to Joseph A. Fitchpatrick at Ames in August 16, 1866, and died in Nevada, September 13, 1906, aged 64 years, 7 months and 26 days. Mrs. Fitchpatrick leaves to mourn her loss her sisters, Mrs. Carrie Peabody, Miss Viola Pierce, and Mrs. Frank Prescott, and a brother, Charles S. Pierce, all of Fresno, Cal.; her husband, her son, William P. Fitchpatrick, and her daughters, Mrs. Viva Everhard, now in Michigan, and Mrs. Ed McCall, and a host of friends in this community. Mrs. Fitchpatrick was stricken with apoplexy during prayer meeting Thursday evening at the Presbyterian church. Friends carried her home on a stretcher, wher she died shortly before midnight. She never spoke after being stricken, but appeared to recognize those about her. The paralysis affected chiefly her right side, throat and respiratory organs, the last being the cause of her speedy death. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, sonducted by the Rev. A. M. Boyd, the pastor, assisted by Rev. T. S. Bailey of Cedar Rapids and Dr. O. H. Cessna of Ames. A large crowd of sorrowing friends was present. Friends and relatives from a distance who were present included John Fitchpatrick of Hebron, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. Babcock of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Viva Everhard of Mt. Clemons, Mich.
