He came to this state about 1860 and had lived in Scott county since 1870. The Chronicle, Scottsburg, Indiana, Thursday 2 July 1885. Scottsburg. Scottsburg, June 29 - Harris L. Loomis, who recently kept hotel in your city, near the car works, but who removed to this place some two or three months ago, died yesterday morning at nine o'clock, of strangulated hernia, aged fifty-one years. His remains were taken in charge by the Odd Fellows of which Order he was a worthy members (sic) and interred at the Estill (sic) burying ground, about three miles east of this place. The funeral was attended by a large concourse of friends and neighbors. The burial at Estill (sic) is supposed to be only temporary, as it is the intention of the mother and son to remove them to Ohio on the early future.
