He died on Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Brookings Hospital at the age of 80. Harris attended grade school in Sherman Township and near Toronto, SD and was a graduate of the White High School in 1943. Read More	Harris Raymond Davis, Brookings, South Dakota Harris R. Davis was born on June 28, 1926 in Brookings, SD, the son of Thomas and Jensina (Armstrong) Davis. He died on Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Brookings Hospital at the age of 80. Harris attended grade school in Sherman Township and near Toronto, SD and was a graduate of the White High School in 1943. He continued his education at SDSU for two years and graduated from UCLA in 1951 with a degree in meteorology. He then served in the United States Army until 1953, and returned to the family farm southeast of White, SD. Harris was united in marriage to Frances Nakaya on December 31, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA. They continued to farm together until their retirement in 1999. He and Fran then served in the Peace Corp in Morocco, Africa, from 1999 to 2001. He was a member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Parish. He was community minded having served on the boards of the Elkton School, Brookings Hospital, Farmers Home Administration, Sioux Valley Energy, East River Electric, the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association and most recently was a CASA Volunteer. Harris was an avid reader of books, enjoyed gardening, tree planting and he especially loved to fly his ultra light airplane in his retirement years. Harris is survived by his wife Fran of Brookings; his children Cecilia (Dennis) Kavanagh of Greenfield, MN, Tim (Christie) Davis of Riverton, WY, Philip Davis of Salt Lake City, UT, John (Sue) Davis of Anchorage, AK, Lee Ann (Steve) Meyer of Brookings, Tom (Kalyn) Davis of Elkton, SD, Joe (Tina) Davis of Elkton, Charles Davis of Milwaukee, WI, Frank Davis of Fort Worth, TX, Patricia (Mark) Codde of Fitchburg, WI Daniel (Cory) Davis of Albertville, MN; 18 grandchildren; and one brother Roger (Bonnie) Davis of Ankeny, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
