Campbell, a well known resident of the city, passed away at his home, 1614 Greene street, at 1:10 o’clock Wednesday morning, after a lingering illness of two years duration with a serious complication of diseases. Campbell, a well known resident of the city, passed away at his home, 1614 Greene street, at 1:10 o’clock Wednesday morning, after a lingering illness of two years duration with a serious complication of diseases. He had been practically bedfast since last July. Some time ago he went to the northern part of the state in the hopes of receiving some benefit but to no avail. He grew so weak that last week his father in law, Mr. Purcell had to go up and bring him back. He had to be carried on a cot. He was taken to this home, where he soon afterward passed away. While his death had been expected for some time, yet it is a severe shock to his family and friends and they are given the sincere sympathy of a host of friends in their bereavement. The deceased was born at Volga City, Iowa, October 13, 1876. When fourteen years of age he moved to Marathon, Iowa, and seven years ago came to Boone. On September 4, 1900, at Pocahontas, he was united in marriage to Miss Maude Purcell, who, with four young children, Helen, Mildred, Frances and Grace Marie, survive. His father is still living at Sioux Rapids, also one brother, Frank R. of Rockford, Illinois, and two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Morse of Volga City and Miss Ethel of Arlington. They were all present at the funeral, as was his uncle, Frank Campbell of Marathon. The funeral services were held from the Christian church at 3:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Ritz, and in charge of the Mystic Workers Lodge, of which he was an esteemed member, burial in Linwood cemetery.
