Harry August Bischel was born in the town of Aurelia December 1, 1888, and died at his home in Ashton, Iowa, December 23, 1918, after an Illness of ten days with influenza, aged 30 years and 22 days. He received his education in the Aurelia schools and had made his home here with bis parents practically all of his life until a few years ago. At the age of fourteen years one of his legs was operated on for tuberculosis of the bone and since that time he had been handicapped on account of the weakened condition of the limb, but he did not let that deter him from making an honest effort to make his way in life. Eight years ago he took a course in telegraphy and for a short time worked in Nebraska, but was compelled to give up the work on account of his leg. A few years ago he learned the barber trade and worked at Sioux City and Omaha, but was also compelled to give up this work on account of being on his feet so much of the time. He went to Ashton last spring and purchased a produce business where he bought poultry, cream, butter and eggs. He was enjoying a good business and doing well with bright prospects in store for him. It is needless to say that Harry was an industrious young man and bis efforts to make his way in the business world would do credit to anyone of a stronger makeup. He was well liked by the people of this community who are grieved by his death. He was married just a year ago to Miss Anna Miller of Ashton and only eighteen days before his death a little son was born to this union to brighten the prospects for a happy married life. He leaves to mourn his death besides the wife and child, his parents living In Aurelia, two brother*, Henry living in Canada and W. H., living in Aurelia four sisters, Mrs. Wetzler of Schleswig, Iowa, Mrs. W. A. Bischel of Aurelia, Miss Anna Bischel of Chicago, and Mrs. Frank Rowden of Garvin; Iowa.
