Harry was born on August 22, 1930, on the family farm at Chambers, the son of Wilbur and Mamie (McClenahan) Edwards. Harry was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Bader on Jan. 5, 1958, at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul. She preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2007. Harry is survived by: daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Rick Paup of Central City, Nebraska, Beth Edwards of Omaha, Nebraska, Kim and Lloyd Hodgin of Aberdeen, South Dakota and Tina and Greg Olerich of Naponee, Nebraska; brother and two sisters-in-law, Stanley and Cleo Edwards and Janet Edwards, all of St. Paul, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Rick Vigil of Lompoc, California; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Harry received his education in Cushing, Nebraska where he was a 1947 graduate of Cushing (NE.) High School. He joined the United States Navy in Sept. 1951. He served as a pipe-fitter on the hospital ship, the U.S.S. Repose during the Korean War. In 1955, he returned to Cushing, Nebraska to help his father farm. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves until Sept. 1959. After Harry and Shirley were married, the couple lived on a farm near Cushing, Nebraska until 1967, when they moved to a farm east of Worms, Nebraska. The couple retired from farming and moved into St. Paul, Nebraska in 1984. Harry drove school bus for St. Paul (NE.) Public Schools for a number of years and worked at S.E. Smith and Sons, where he drove a cement truck. Harry was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119, both of St. Paul, Nebraska. Harry worked hard to raise a family and enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood working and playing cards. Harry was preceded in death by: parents; wife, Shirley Ann Edwards; brother, Frank Edwards and sister, Gloria Vigil. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church, St. Paul, Nebraska. The Rev. Thomas Clark as officiator. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, St. Paul, Nebraska with graveside military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119, St. Paul, Nebraska.
