Reel’s legs are paralyzed, and doctors intended making an examination Monday morning, but his condition caused this to be held up. Reel was shot at the fair grounds where he was acting as a deputy for his father, chief of police, by Ernest Reed when Reel attempted to stop him from climbing the fence at the fair grounds. One bullet struck his arm and glanced into the side of his body, the other groins through his stomach and liver. Reed fled but was arersted an hour later in a cornfield by Reel’s father. When an erroneous report reached the Valley that Harry had died, a crowd gathered but was dispersed when they found that he was still alive.
