An operation revealed that one of his intestines was ruptured for some distance and little hope was held out for his recovery. At midnight Monday night the doctors realized that he end was near and he passed away at five o'clock. The accident, which caused Mr. Spicer's death, happened in a very unusual way. About one o'clock Sunday morning one of the horses came up to the window of the room where Mr. Spicer was sleeping and made considerable noise and gave every evidence of being in pain. Mr. Spicer went out to see what he could do for the animal and when he approached the horse, he came to him with his ears laid back like he was going to bit. Mr. Spicer spoke to him and at that instant the horse whirled and kicked him in the lower part of the abdomen. Mrs. Spicer heard the noise and went out to assist her husband who was suffering terribly. She ran a mile to the Frank Wilson place and telephoned for Dr. McDonald, of this city who went out and brought the injured man to town Monday morning. Mr. Spicer is survived by a wife and several small children and to them the sympathy of the entire community is extended. This community was shocked to hear of the death of Mr. Harry Spicer Tuesday morning. He was kicked by a horse and was taken to Concordia and had an operation performed but to no avail. He leaves a wife and five small children to mourn his sudden death. The many friend and neighbors extend to the widow and children their most heartfelt sympathy in this hour of sorrow. Obituary - Harry C Spicer The funeral of Harry C Spicer was held Wednesday morning from the home of his stepmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Ferguson, living on East Sixth Street, and the services were in charge of Rev. E. A. Broner. A large crown attended the funeral and the remains were taken to the Kendall Cemetery in Center Township for burial. Harry C Spicer was born in Center Township, October 12, 1878 and was 37 years old at the time of his death. At the age of seven he was given a home by Mrs. Elizabeth Ferguson where he was raised. His only surviving relatives are his wife and five children and to them the deepest and sincere sympathy is extended. Mr. Spicer was a good citizen and ideal husband and father and the sad misfortune which brought his life to an early close had cast a gloom over the entire community.
