Description	:	Harry was born January 8, 1914 to Rhine and Hannah (Mayer) Deering at their home in Lucas, South Dakota. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith as an infant and confirmed as a young adult. In 1938, Harry married Martha Hauf at Dallas, South Dakota. To this union two children were born, Duane in 1941 and Ruth in 1948. Harry and Martha farmed in the Lucas area for 19 years before selling the farm and moving to Pierre, South Dakota, where he worked for the City of Pierre Street Department. Harry served on the school board while living at Lucas and was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church at Wessington, South Dakota, where he was active serving as an elder. Harry was a good husband and father. He liked to work with wood in his spare time making cedar chests. He is survived by his wife, Martha of Miller, South Dakota; a son, Duane of Yankton, South Dakota; a sister, Edith of Burke, South Dakota; and a grandson, Trevor.
