He served in the U.S. Navy during WW 11, was a member of O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 American Legion in Ottumwa and was affliliated with Calvary Baptist Church, Ottumwa. Surviving are his wife; a son, Harry of Wichita, Kansas., two daughters, Gloria MARTINEZ of Wichita, Kan., and Midgie MAYLETT of Roosevelt, Utah; two stepsons, Danny COX of Ottumwa, and Gary COX of Bloomfield; a stepdaughter Bonnie WOTEN of Ottumwa; 22 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Danny; a brother Richard; a sister Bessie LANIGAN; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, the Rev. Mel KENDALL officiating. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery, Douds, with military rites by O.B. Nelson Post Nov. 3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Ottumwa. Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with family present from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials to American Cancer Society or Calvary Baptist Church may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 944 S. Webster St., Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.
