Description	:	Harry E. Nelson was the son of Peter C. and Mary Siemsen Nelson. He was born in Viola Township on 22 September 1907. On October 27, 1928 he was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Hansen in Winterset, Iowa. They were the parents of one daughter, Phyllis. Harry was baptized and became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon on April 6, 1950 where he was ordained an Elder on February 11, 1968. Nelson was the son of Peter C. and Mary Siemsen Nelson. He was born in Viola Township on 22 September 1907. On October 27, 1928 he was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Hansen in Winterset, Iowa. They were the parents of one daughter, Phyllis. Harry was baptized and became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon on April 6, 1950 where he was ordained an Elder on February 11, 1968. Harry and Dorothy farmed north of Audubon and operated a dairy farm for a short time and farmed on the Audubon-Guthrie County border until they retired from farming and moved to their home on Washington Street in Audubon in 1958. Harry was employed as a groundskeeper at the Audubon Country Club for several years. They moved to Fremont, Nebraska where they managed an apartment complex for a few years. They returned to Audubon and Harry was the initial groundskeeper for the Greenbrier Country Club south of Audubon. He then was a bus driver and a groundskeeper for the Audubon Community School District until he retired. Harry worked as a handy-man for several people and worked part-time for the Audubon State Bank until 1982. Dorothy entered the Friendship Home in Audubon in August of 1982, due to constant severe pain in her legs. Harry remained living in his big house and visited Dorothy at least 3 times daily. When Dorothy passed away on May 1, 1991, Harry died twelve days later at his home. Preceding him in death in addition to his wife were his parents and his sister, Eunice Ross; and infant sister Mildred Nelson. Survivors include his daughter and her husband, Phyllis and Leo Weckerlin of Elkhorn, NE; his grandsons: Brad Weckerlin of Elkhorn, NE and Tim Weckerlin and his fiance Michelle Smith, both of Seattle, WA; his sister May Davis of Blair, NE; his brother and his wife, Walter and Patsy Nelson of boulder, CO; his nieces and nephews, including Cam and Nonie Ross of Audubon, IA, and June and Jack Kuhr of Blair, NE; other relatives and friends. Casket bearers were: Brad Weckerlin, Tim Weckerlin, Jack Kuhr, James Boyd, Earl Lucas, and John Parrott Jr. Harry's funeral service was held on Thursday, May 16, and the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon, Iowa. He was buried beside his wife in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Audubon, Iowa.
