Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements. Harry was born on 2 June 1926, on a farm north of Hoskins, being Louis and Alma (Schermer) Nurnberg’s tenth and last child. He was graduated from Hoskins High School in May 1943 at the age of 16. Harry entered the U.S. Regular Army on 25 April 1946. He served on General Douglas MacArthur’s staff during the postwar reconstruction of Japan. He received his honorable discharge with the rank sergeant major on 25 September 1947. On 4 August 1948, Harry married Leslie Pavlik. The couple made their home in California prior to returning to the Hoskins area to farm. When they moved to Norfolk, Harry was employed by Elkhorn Construction, building bridges and roads. This job enabled Harry to become an entrepreneur and co-founder of Midwest Bridge and Construction Company. Subsequently, Harry became one of the original partners of Valley Investment Company Inc. On 22 April 1972, Harry married Theola (Wisch) Graves, and they made their home in Norfolk. Following his retirement in 1988, he and Theola spent six months of each year in Arizona. Serving as grand marshal in the Fourth of July parade was one of Harry’s favorite memories. Mr. Nurnberg died on 12 August 2014, in Anaheim. Harry is survived by his three children; 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and three great-great-granddaughters. Contributor: Stone hunter (47845042)
