(Henry) Handy, his high school sweetheart, to whom he was married for 68 years. Harry was born on November 11, 1911 in Woods Hole. He was the son of Harry H. Handy and Della T. (McGrath) Handy. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1931. He excelled in sports that included baseball, football and basketball. "Buck" Handy 95, died Wednesday June 13, 2007. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth M. (Henry) Handy, his high school sweetheart, to whom he was married for 68 years. Harry was born on November 11, 1911 in Woods Hole. He was the son of Harry H. Handy and Della T. (McGrath) Handy. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1931. He excelled in sports that included baseball, football and basketball. He was inducted into the Lawrence Falmouth High School Athletic Hall of Fame in the year 2000. Buck played football and baseball for Huntington Prep School in Boston. He tried out for the Boston Red Sox as a pitcher and, at that time, sat in the dugout with Babe Ruth. He was a Woods Hole firefighter, a commercial fisherman with Henry Klimm, and later a carpenter with Stanley Crocker James Dufur. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Woods Hole Golf Club. He enjoyed music and loved dancing to the sounds of big band. He also enjoyed boating and fishing with his family. Harry is survived by his son, Robert E. Handy, his daughter, Elizabeth J. (Handy) Henderson, three granddaughters, one grandson and five great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be from 5-7 PM on Monday June 18, in the Chapman, Cole Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth Center. Funeral home service will take place at 10 AM on Tuesday June 19, in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Churchyard Cemetery, Church Street, Woods Hole. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
