Krieger, 69, of Holtville, Calif., and a former Ottumwan, died Thursday night in a hospital in El Centro, Calif. He was a World War I veteran, having served in the Rainbow Division. Mr. Krieger left Ottumwa about 15 years ago and had been engineer and maintenance man at a sanatarium in Holtville prior to his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Marie; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Vannausdle of Des Moines and Mrs. Donald Lawson of Ottumwa; a half-brother, Fred Stocker Sr. of Ottumwa; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The body will be returned to the Johnson Funeral Chapel here. --------------- “Krieger Funeral,” From “Ottumwa Courier,” Saturday, April 17, 1965, Page 5: The service for Harry E. Krieger, 69, of Holtville, Calif., a former Ottumwan, who died Thursday night, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel. The Rev. C.S. Whitehouse, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. The Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in charge of military graveside services. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Stocker, Donald Stocker, Fred Stocker Jr., John Turner, Robert Holman and Fred Holman. The body will arrive in Ottumwa Sunday afternoon and will be taken to the funeral chapel where friends may call Sunday evening. The son of William C. and Florence A. Krieger, he was born in Ottumwa on Aug. 30, 1895. He left Ottumwa about 15 years ago.
