Carmel hospital in Pittsburg. The former had been in poor health for several years and in serious condition since June. Born Sept. 11, 1895, on a farm near Cherokee, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee D. Whitney, pioneer residents of the Cherokee vicinity. His home was on a farm 3 1/2 miles west of Cherokee. Mr. Whitney was married to Velma Sartin April 6, 1936, at Parsons. She survives. Other survivors are three daughters, Miss Janet Whitney and Miss Vicki Whitney, both of the home, and Mrs. Willa Lee Corn, Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Mrs. Horace Taylor, Wichita; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Cherokee Methodist church with Rev. George Emmons officiating. Burial was in the Cherokee cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg.
