Description	:	Harry L. "Bud" Johnson entered his earthly life on January 22, 1927 in York, Nebraska to parents Harry A. and Essie M. Johnson who resided in Polk, Nebraska. Surrounded by close family and friends in his home in Otis, Colorado, Bud quietly went to his eternal home on March 2, 2012. "Bud" Johnson entered his earthly life on January 22, 1927 in York, Nebraska to parents Harry A. and Essie M. Johnson who resided in Polk, Nebraska. Surrounded by close family and friends in his home in Otis, Colorado, Bud quietly went to his eternal home on March 2, 2012. At the age of 5, in 1932, his family moved to Aurora, Nebraska where his father purchased a gas station. His father was previously a part owner of the bank in Polk. In 1932, when all the banks were closing, his father and partner lost the bank. Bud went to junior and senior high school in Aurora. Though his sports career was limited by two sprained ankles, appendicitis surgery and the mumps, he did play football. Bud obtained his letter in his senior year of high school football. He graduated in May of 1945. In June, 1945, he was drafted into the army and took basic infantry training at Camp Fannin in Texas. In December of the same year Bud was sent to Fort Riley Kansas and from there he was deployed to Washington D.C. where he was assigned to Staff Communication at the Pentagon. Bud also had a chance to go to Russia on a Military Attaché assignment but not wanting to reenlist he did not make the trip. Later, he was transferred to a Strategic Services Unit and worked under the command of Colonel Pruden. Bud was discharged in November, 1946 but continued to work in the office as a civilian until August, 1947. Following his work in the Pentagon, Bud returned to Nebraska and started college in September of 1947 at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He received his Bachelors degree in June of 1951 in banking and finance. While in college Bud pledged to a fraternity, Delta Sigma Phi. After graduation, Bud went to work for the National Bank of Commerce in Lincoln, Nebraska working as a bookkeeper and teller. He left there in February 1954, to work for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as an assistant bank examiner. The district he was involved in was comprised of Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Wyoming. Bud was located in Dodge City, Kansas and Kearney, Nebraska. In December, 1957 he moved to Otis, Colorado and went to work at the First National Bank as Cashier and later as Vice President. While working at the bank in Otis, Bud's niece Connie Lou Pollard moved to live with him in 1962 where she attended high school. In 1968, Bud accepted a position as President of the bank in Mascoutah, Illinois, 30 miles outside of St. Louis. He lived and worked in Mascoutah until June, 1972, when he then moved back to Colorado. He lived in Yuma for a few months while attending a business school in Denver. While living in Yuma Bud started building his home in Otis which was completed the next year in May, 1973. Bud's mother moved from Mascoutah later that summer to live with him until she passed away in April, 1980. Bud was in the real estate business from 1972 until 1993. The first year was with Goodman Realty in Akron and then he went onto develop his own company, Johnson Realty Company. While in real estate Bud was on the First National Bank of Otis Board of Directors from 1973 until 2003. He also served on the Washington Investment Company Board from 1992 through 2006. Later in 2008, Bud purchased stock in Wray State Bank and he then joined the Board at this time and served until September of 2009. Bud continued with his farming and bank connections throughout the rest of his life. Bud loved being active with friends and family. He particularly enjoyed playing cards, racquet ball, skiing, traveling, and flying. He was preceded in death by: parents, a brother, and two sisters. Bud is survived by a host of nieces and nephews and close friends. Bud was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Otis, CO. During his life especially the past few years he had a great desire to learn from God's Word going to Bible studies, Sunday school and worship. If Bud could leave his family and friends with any advice we believe it would be from the words of Paul in Philippians 4:4-9 to "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." Interment was in the Aurora Cemetery, Aurora, Nebraska.
