A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Federated Church in Alturas. The Rev. Ben Zandstra will officiate. A fellowship luncheon will follow in the church. Mr. Flournoy was born Nov. 15, 1915, in Likely to Arthur and Lutie Flournoy. He was once honored as Modoc Countys Senior Citizen of the Year and was named the grand marshal of the Modoc County Fair Parade. He was a recipient of the Alturas Rotary Clubs Paul Harris Fellowship and winner of a Western Fairs blue ribbon award. He was known as Modocs Mr. Announcer because he was at the microphone during numerous rodeos, country fair events, and community gatherings and parades. Mr. Flournoy was a former member of the Modoc County Board of Supervisors, the Modoc High School board of directors, and the Surprise Valley Electrification Corp. board of directors. He also was a former charter member of the Likely Fire Department and the Likely Roping Club. He was a past president of Alturas Rotary Club, a past captain of the Modoc Sheriffs Posse, and a member of the Modoc Tribe Riders, Ranchero Vistadores, and Federated Church. He was an honorary life member of the Parent-Teacher Association and the Future Farmers of America. Mr. Flournoy enjoyed fishing, hunting, pitching horseshoes, gardening, and volunteering his services to community barbecues and youth organizations. Survivors include his wife, Alice of Alturas; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Ed Berryessa of Cedarville, Lynne and Peter Gerig of Bieber, Rebecca and Rob Franzoia of Sacramento, and Sally and Tom Costello of Rocklin, Calif.; grandchildren, Renelle Bengle of Mountain View, Calif,; Lori Salters of Gazelle, Calif.; Alan Berryessa of Cedarville, Bryan Gerig of Bieber, Lee Ann Widener of San Diego, Kate, Kelli and Alison Costello, all of Rocklin, and Jillian Franzois of Sacramento; brothers, Don, Rob and Warren Flournoy, all of Likely; sisters, Hazel Dorris of Woodland, Calif., and Mabel Mitchell of Woodland Hills, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Kenneth and John Flournoy, sisters, Georgie Flournoy and Helen Auble, and a grandson, Curtis Gerig. Memorial donations may be made to Federated Church, Harry Flournoy Memorial Fund, or Alturas Rotary, Harry Flournoy Special Youth Project Fund.
