Harry Rea Kenyon was born March 28, 1910, at Burdette, South Dakota, in northeast Hand County, to Harry R. and Minnie A. (Keeler) Kenyon. KENYON March 28, 1910 - February 8, 1991 Harry R. Kenyon, 80, Huron, South Dakota, died Friday morning, February 8, 1991 at Huron Regional Medical Center. Harry Rea Kenyon was born March 28, 1910, at Burdette, South Dakota, in northeast Hand County, to Harry R. and Minnie A. (Keeler) Kenyon. He grew up in the Burdette area and attended rural school and St. Lawrence High School. On November 27, 1930, Harry married Mildred A. Curtis, daughter of Albert and Mattie (Barnes) Curtis of Wessington, at Bradley, SD. He farmed in Hand county until 1941 when they moved to a farm near Booten, Minnesota. In 1944 they moved to Mankato, MN where he owned and operated a service station. In 1953 they moved to Huron, South Dakota where he was employed at Farmers Union Oil and in 1956 moved to Wessington where he was manager of the Farmers Union. From 1965 until 1975 they lived in the Winner area where he was a State drivers license examiner. In 1975 he retired and they returned to Huron. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #107 of Wessington, the Yelduz Shrine of Aberdeen, and attended First United Methodist Church in Huron. He is survived by his wife, Mildred A. of Huron; three children, Mrs. James (Mary Alice) Cary of Salem, Oregon, Curtis J. Kenyon and his wife, Beverly J. of Marshall, Minnesota, and Mrs. Dwight W. (M. Kaye) Brandow of Coleridge, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brother, Robert, Clifford and Elbert Kenyon. Funeral services were held Monday, February 11, at the First United Methodist Church, Huron, with Rev. Dr. Richard Ward officating. Music was by Howard Hawks and Mrs. Sidney (Marjorie) Larson. Casket Bearers were Scott Dunn, Gregory Kenyon, Gary Munter, Milton Newman, Alan McNeill, David Frevert, and Ronald Teichmeier. Interment was at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Huron. Arrangements were by Welter Funeral Home, Huron.
