Description	:	Harry R. Clawson, son of William L. and Elizabeth Vest Clawson, was born at Winsor, Ill., July 8, 1889, and died in Ransom, Kansas, April 30, 1953. His mother died when he and his younger sister, Winnie, were small and they were reared by a stepmother, Nancy M. Martin, whom his father married in 1895. About 1897 the family migrated from Illinois to Trego County, Kansas. There he grew to manhood and farmed with his father in the Downer neighborhood. Clawson, son of William L. and Elizabeth Vest Clawson, was born at Winsor, Ill., July 8, 1889, and died in Ransom, Kansas, April 30, 1953. His mother died when he and his younger sister, Winnie, were small and they were reared by a stepmother, Nancy M. Martin, whom his father married in 1895. About 1897 the family migrated from Illinois to Trego County, Kansas. There he grew to manhood and farmed with his father in the Downer neighborhood. He was graduated from the public school in 1908 and taught in the Ransom grade school and in rural schools of the Ransom community for several years. On May 28, 1916, he was married to Phebe Moselle Scott. To this union were born four children: Mildred, now Mrs. Melvin Clark; Wilma Marie, Harrie, jr., and Tholen S. Mr. Clawson resided in the Ransom community most of his life except for a few years in Manhattan where for a short time he was both student and teacher in business college. He was baptized into the church of Christ in Ransom in 1917 and was a member of the Ransom Odd Fellows lodge. He was preceded in death by his sister, Winnie, in 1915, an infant sister, his infant daughter, Wilma Marie, in 1920, his father in 1945. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by one nephew, Chester Yeo and family of Canon City, Colo., an aged aunt, Diza Curry of Potwin, and a number of cousins. He had been in ill health for a number of years and spent many weeks in the hospital in recent months. Harry Clawson was an honest and honorable man, a man prone to give his employer more than was demanded of him. He was of a studious nature and loved to read. Uncomplaining and modest in regard to his own ability, he will be remembered by those who knew him best for his integrity both in his personal habits and in his dealings with others. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 3, from the Ransom church of Christ and officiated by the ministers, R.H. McDaniel of the church of Christ, and L.G. Snyder of the Ransom Methodist Church. Graveside services were conducted by the Ransom IOOF Lodge. Ness Co. News, May 7, 1953
