Funeral services for Harry Spiering, 27, Norfolk cafe employee, who died early Christmas morning of a bullet wound, were to be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Johnson, Thenhaus and Howser mortuary chapel by Rev. Young Norfolkan Ends Own Life With Rifle Bullet Christmas Day
Funeral services for Harry Spiering, 27, Norfolk cafe employee, who died early Christmas morning of a bullet wound, were to be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Johnson, Thenhaus and Howser mortuary chapel by Rev. Walter L. Jewett, minister of the First Methodist Episcopal Church. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Norfolk .
Spiering, according to County Attorney George W. Dittrick, who made an investigation, ended his life about 4 a.m. by firing a rifle bullet through his body from the right side, the bullet striking the lower part of his heart. He was at the foot of the stairs in his home at 700 Nebraska Avenue at the time, the county attorney said.
A short time before, Spiering had been at the home of his mother, Mrs. Emil Spiering, Norfolk, where he had a brief argument with his brother, Arthur, County Attorney Dittrick said he learned. The young man had several times threatened to take his own life and made such threats Saturday night; the county attorney said he was informed.
Upstairs at the time the shot was fired were Mrs. Winifred Barnhart and her five children, who lived at the Spiering residence. One of the Barnhart girls, after hearing the shot, called from an upstairs window at Arthur Spiering who was at his home two doors from his brother's house. Arthur Spiering heard the call and came to the home of his brother who died about fifteen minutes later.
Spiering, who was divorced, is survived by two children, his mother and a large number of brothers and sisters.

Jewett, minister of the First Methodist Episcopal Church. Burial was made in the New Lutheran Cemetery in Norfolk .
Employees of Bob's Café, where he was employed, attended the rites of the body.
Mr. Spiering, who spent all his life in Norfolk, where he was born in 1910, is survived by his mother, Mrs. Emil Spiering, two children and the following brothers and sisters; Miss Dorothy Spiering, Mrs. Marion Feldhahn, Herman, Lorene, Betty, Donald, Junior and Alice. His father preceded him in death.
