Description	:	BEATRICE — Harry Stuart, 81, of Beatrice, formerly of Holdrege and Central City, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Good Samaritan Home in Beatrice. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Bureau Cemetery near Pierce Chapel in rural Clarks. Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Stuart was born Nov. 25, 1931, in Central City to Erin and Nettie (Everett) Stuart. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Marianna; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dick and Julie of Beatrice and Bob and fiance, Kelly, of Rosemont, Minn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Ted of Pickrell; two sisters, Mary Jane Stuart of Central City and Vivian Stuart of Grand Island; and a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Sylvia Stuart of Central City. Also surviving are grandchildren, Marni Baker and husband, Beau, of Lexington, Colby Jurgens of Kearney, Devin Stuart of Beatrice, Courtney and Cameron Jurgens of Pickrell and Gabrielle and Anthony Stuart of Rosemont, Minn.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was the ninth of 10 children. Harry graduated from Central City High School in 1949. He attended Nebraska Central College in Central City for one year. He entered the Army in October of 1952 and served two years. During that service he was stationed in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and was a member of the Army Reserve for several years. At that time, he was employed by the Nebraska Hereford Association. During that time he met Marianna Friedrichsen. They dated for two years and were married Oct. 16, 1960, at Pierce Chapel, near Clarks. Their son, Dick, was born in 1961 and their daughter, Beth, was born in 1964. At this time Harry worked for Sack Lumber Company. In 1963, he began working for Lepp & Larson John Deere dealership. While living in Central City, Harry was a member of the United Methodist Church, served on the church board, served on the Central City City Council and Jaycees. In 1973, Harry took the position of comptroller with McClymont Implement and the family moved to Holdrege. In 1974 another son, Robert (Bob), was born. Harry worked for McClymont Implement until his retirement in 1999. In Holdrege, Harry was active in the Methodist Church, was a member of the Phelps County Museum Board, the cemetery board, Kiwanis, and the Holdrege school board. Harry volunteered as a tutor in the Holdrege Middle School, taught Sunday School and Bible School, coached baseball, and was integral in the planning of Holdrege's Centennial celebrations. In 2012, Harry and Marianna moved to Beatrice, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Harry enjoyed travelling and he and Marianna visited many countries in Europe and China. Harry was an avid sports fan and spent many hours attending children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He also enjoyed bowling, square dancing, playing softball, putting together puzzles, card club, and especially enjoyed following his children's and grandchildren's activities. Harry was a devoted supporter of education which led to his service on the school board, his volunteering as a tutor and his two eldest children becoming teachers. He was a 50 year member of the Methodist Church. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Robert, Marvin, Anthony and Alfred; and sisters, Rose and Barbara (infant).
