Description	:	Harvey McCain, the second of five children of James and Jennie (Kruse) McCain, was born November 21, 1909, at Elbon, SD, where his parents homesteaded. Other family members of the family include Harlen, Ruth, Ruby and Redena. The family moved in 1911 to Knox County, where they farmed. All the family members except Havey moved to the west coast. Bonnie was the daughter of Glen and Elsie (Avenell) Huddleston. Bonnie attended West Blyville and Crofton High School. Harvey and Bonnieworked on a farm at Spencer, Ia., for two years after they were married. They returned to Knox County in 1937 and started farming with a herd of stock cows, a flock of sheep, haying, and chickens that provided eggs to sell. They have three children: Wyman, who lives northwet of Crofton, Julie McDonald, who resides at Chadron, Ne., and Linda Stelling, who lives at Osakes, Minn. Harvey And Bonnie are members of the United Methodist Church of rural Crofton. Bonnie is a member of the United Methodist Women. Harvey was a member of the Blyville School Board for 18 years and on the Eastern Township Board for six years. He was active in 4-H Saddle Club, as well as Crofton Saddle Club, and is a member of Farm Bureau. ***************************************************************************************** Yankton Press and Dakotan Nov. 19, 1998 Harvey F. McCain, 88, Crofton, died (Nov. 18, 1998) at Sister James Nursing Home, Yankton, South Dakota. Services 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Methodist Church, Bloomfield, Nebr. with the Rev. Pat Callingan officiating. Burial at Beaver View Cemetery, Crofton. Pallbearers Troy and Jason McCain, Eric and Nathan Stelling, Terlee and Gina McDonald. He was born Nov. 21, 1909 to Jenny (Kruse) and James McCain at Philip, S.D. In 1911 he moved with his parents to Knox County, Nebr., where he lived the majority of his life. He attended Frankfort, Weigand and Bloomfield schools. On Feb. 17, 1935 her married Bonnie Huddleston, at Crofton. They moved to Spencer, Iowa, for two years, where he worked for a farmer. They then moved back to Knox County, where he was active on the School Board, Township Board, and was a member of the Rural Evangelical United Bretheran Church. He farmed until 1986, when he retired and moved to Crofton. He was also a member of the Crofton Saddle Club. Survivors include one son Wyman, (Phyllis) McCain, of Crofton; Two daughters Julie McDonald, San Antonio, Texas and Linda (Tim) Stelling, Osakis, Minn.; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; One sister Ruby Miller, Castro Valley, Calif. He was proceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie, one grandson, and one brother and two sisters.
