Description	:	A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, August 4, 1862, mustered into federal service there August 11 as a private with Co. D, 122nd Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 24, 1863. He also enlisted in Easton, Northumberland County, February 20, 1864, and mustered into federal service there February 26 as a private with Battery K, 2nd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (112th Pa).
