Description	:	US ARMY AIR CORPS WORLD WAR II ELKIN - Mr. Harvey Hampton Golden, age 91, passed away Saturday March 26, 2011 at Heritage Healthcare of Elkin. Mr. Golden was born March 19, 1920 in Surry County to Shade and Bertha Welborn Golden. Mr. Golden retired from Golden Automotive Service and was a veteran of Army Air Corps serving four years during WWII in the South Pacific. Read More	US ARMY AIR CORPS WORLD WAR II ELKIN - Mr. Harvey Hampton Golden, age 91, passed away Saturday March 26, 2011 at Heritage Healthcare of Elkin. Mr. Golden was born March 19, 1920 in Surry County to Shade and Bertha Welborn Golden. Mr. Golden retired from Golden Automotive Service and was a veteran of Army Air Corps serving four years during WWII in the South Pacific. Mr. Golden was a lifelong member of Union Hill Regular Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 35 years. In addition to his parents Mr. Golden was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Golden, Leo Golden and Roby Golden and a sister, Swannee Pittman. Survivors include, his wife, Selma B. Golden of the home. Two sons, Edward Golden and wife Julia of Jonesville, Keith Golden and wife Carol of Elkin. A brother, Billy Golden of Camp Hills, PA. A sister, Helen Garris of Elkin. Four grandchildren, Elliott Golden of New York, Sarah Golden of Oklahoma, Clint M. Golden and Crista L. Golden both of Winston Salem. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel, conducted by Rev. John A. Harrell and Rev. Frank Wooten. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by Yadkin Co. VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to Yadkin Co. VFW Post 10346 c/o Frank Wooten 182 Klondike Road Extension State Road, NC 28676. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the friends and family that cared for Mr. Golden.
