Description	:	Harvey Henry Poulsen, the son of Henry and Katrine (Bork) Poulsen, was born March 23, 1926, at his parents’ home in rural Audubon, County, Iowa and died November 15, 2018, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 22 days. Read More	Harvey Henry Poulsen, the son of Henry and Katrine (Bork) Poulsen, was born March 23, 1926, at his parents’ home in rural Audubon, County, Iowa and died November 15, 2018, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 22 days. Harvey was baptized and confirmed at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church west of Audubon, Iowa. He attended rural school through the eighth grade then helped operate the family farm. On August 1, 1945, he was inducted into the U.S. Army. During his tour of duty he was stationed with the Army of Occupation in Germany where he drove light trucks. Harvey was honorably discharged on January 2, 1947 and returned home and resumed farming. On November 28, 1948, he was united in marriage to Betty Bjorn at the Oak Hill Lutheran Church west of Brayton, Iowa. They were blessed with three children Pamela, John, and Penny. They rented farm land east of Audubon for several years then when Harvey’s father died they moved to the home place. They grew crops and raised livestock for a few years then purchased the farm. In the early 1980’s, they moved into Audubon and Harvey helped several area farmers. Harvey and Betty then were the custodians at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon for over 14 years until he retired. Harvey’s passion was farming and during retirement he enjoyed driving around the countryside checking on all the crops and going to the Chatterbox Café to have coffee with friends. Harvey was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. He was a life member of Dale Christensen Post #4119 V.F.W. and was a member of the Audubon County Fair Board for many years. He enjoyed bowling, was a 4-H leader for several years and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. Preceding him in death was his son, John Poulsen; his grandson, Jacob Poulsen; his son-in-law, Todd Fisher; his parents; his brother, Orville Poulsen; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harvey Jensen, Elaine Landon, Barbara and husband, Buel Lensch, Paul Bjorn, Dick Bjorn, Bob McCollough, and David Diehl. Survivors include his wife, Betty; his daughters, Pamela and husband, Robert, and Penny; his grandchildren, Stephanie and husband, Joe, Jeremy, Meredith and husband, Billy, Nicholas and wife, Jamie, Clinton, Ashley, Cortney, Jordan, Tyler and wife, Lindsey, and Austin; 18 great-grandchildren; his sister, Carrie; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and wife, Barbara, Gary and wife, Sandy, Jeanette, and Karen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will meet with friends Monday afternoon, November 19, 2018, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Keith Menter on Monday, November 19, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon. Interment will be in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon.
