Harvey Lee Price was born on February 8, 1932, on a farm near Steamboat Rock, Iowa, the son of Stephen "Albert" and Eva (Sherbon) Price. Harvey Lee Price was born on February 8, 1932, on a farm near Steamboat Rock, Iowa, the son of Stephen "Albert" and Eva (Sherbon) Price. He and his siblings earned their early education in a country school near Steamboat Rock and in Conrad. Harvey married Janet Lou Jarman on March 2, 1953, at the First Christian Church in Santa Ana, California. They were the parents of four children Guy, Dannette, Paulette, and Bruce. Harvey enlisted in the United States Army, honorably serving from October 14, 1952 until September 30, 1954. He completed his Basic Training at Fort Leonardwood in Missouri and then was stationed at Camp Roberts in California. Harvey was sent to Korea, arriving the day the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed. He completed his time in the service at Fort Carson in Colorado. Prior to his service, Harvey drove a truck for Neuroth Trucking and Green Products of Conrad, Iowa and worked as a hired man for his brother, Clarence Price. Upon his honorable discharge, he started farming on his own in the Conrad area. Later, he farmed near Oran, Montour, Tama, Winterset, and Saint Anthony, Iowa. For a few years he worked for Cessford Construction near LeGrand as a Roller Operator. He also owned his own custom large bailing and stacker business for several years. When Janet retired from GTE, they enjoyed several years wintering in Mesa, Arizona until 2016. Harvey enjoyed playing cards, especially Pepper and 500 with his family and friends and teaching his grandkids how to play, with many laughs along the way. The only thing he adored more than his tractors was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed camping with his family, family reunions catching up with his brothers and sisters, eating at Pizza Ranch, and his life-long passion of farming. He also liked dancing, teasing, and watching Fox News and RFD TV. Surviving are his wife, Janet of LeGrand, Iowa; and two of his four children, Guy (Ingrid) Price of Port Orange, Florida, and Paulette (Dean) Meyer of Conrad, Iowa; son-in-law, Dean Hankins; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters; three sisters-in-law, Betty Price, Donna Price, and Janet Price; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Harvey in death were his parents; his sisters, Joan (Louis) King, Helen (Louis) Smith, Frances (Dale) Zeltman, Leona (Loyd) Sword, and Shirley (Bill) Dace; and his brothers, Charles Price in World War II, Stephen Price Jr., Clarence (Bonnie) Price, Henry (Joyce) Price, LeRoy Price, and Lawrence Price; a daughter, Dannette Hankins; a son, Bruce Price; and a great-grandson.
