Description	:	Harvey M. Harris, 83 of Lake Mills, IA died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at his home in Lake Mills. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Winnebago Lutheran Church in rural Lake Mills with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Winnebago Lutheran Cemetery with Military Rites performed by Lake Mills Otto/Chose Post #235. Harris, 83 of Lake Mills, IA died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at his home in Lake Mills. Harvey Marcellus Harris was born May 6, 1924 on the family farm in rural Forest City, IA. He enjoyed helping his parents on the farm and was the oldest of three children. On June 21, 1945 he went into active service in the United States Army during WWII and later earned the Victory Medal with an Honorable Discharge. While in the Army he was an active boxer and was in many competitions. After his return home he started working for Larson Manufacturing in Lake Mills as a truck driver. There were many times that Harvey would take his daughters with on long truck halls during the summer months. During later years, he moved into the plant and retired after 30 years in 1989. Harvey met his wife, Betty Ann Clark at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA and later married her on August 25, 1967 at the Winnebago Lutheran Church in rural Lake Mills. Harvey and Betty had four daughters; they lived in Lake Mills for 40 years. Harvey enjoyed bowling, golfing and dancing, but loved his family and holidays, his favorite part was dessert. He loved taking his grandchildren to the park, playing cards, video games and watching cartoons with them. He was a die-hard Vikings and Twins fan. He loved Norwegian dishes like lutefisk and lefsa. He was always patient and kind, was an excellent artist, loved helping those in need, had a great sence of humor and loved to tease. Harvey was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Betty, three daughters, five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and two sisters along with many other relatives and friends.
