Mrs. Connelly was born February 16, 1924, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Downing and Retha Rebecca Swails Downing. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Connelly was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a beloved sister and a caring friend to all. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Rachel D. Ethridge and Adelaide D. Lemacks; and two grandchildren, Glenn Connelly and Lorrie Connelly. Surviving are four sons, Larry (Ada) Connelly of Andrews, Nelson (Nita) Connelly of Florence, Kenneth (Ann) Connelly of Coward and Thomas Connelly of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, Winston Delmo (Phyllis) Downing of Andrews; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home, will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. David Richardson and the Rev. John Swails.
