Description	:	Hattie Mae Thomas Geouge, age 85, of the Blue Rock Community, passed away on Wednesday, July 20th, 2016 at her home. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Pearl Woody Thomas and wife of the late James Richard Geouge who passed away March. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Davis and brothers: Floyd Thomas, Paul Thomas, Jeter Thomas, Jim Thomas, Dan Thomas, Bill Thomas, Arvil Thomas and Ben Thomas. Read More	Hattie Mae Thomas Geouge, age 85, of the Blue Rock Community, passed away on Wednesday, July 20th, 2016 at her home. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Pearl Woody Thomas and wife of the late James Richard Geouge who passed away March. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Davis and brothers: Floyd Thomas, Paul Thomas, Jeter Thomas, Jim Thomas, Dan Thomas, Bill Thomas, Arvil Thomas and Ben Thomas. She was a member of Browns Creek Baptist Church and retired from Baxters Healthcare. Hattie Mae was an avid gardener who loved working in her flowers. Surviving is her daughter, Janice McKinney and husband, Tom, of Burnsville; sons: Dickie Geouge, and wife, Doris, of Blue Rock and Tony Geouge of North Myrtle Beach; grandchildren: Tonya Beaver, Stacey Mayes and Devon Geouge; great-grandchildren: Blake Mayes, Ben Franklin, Jeffery Franklin, Dominic Beaver, Chris Beaver and Zach Beaver; sister, Grace Allen of Burnsville; brothers: Johnny Thomas of Burnsville, Sam Thomas and wife, Billie, of Bakersville and Joe Thomas and wife, Hazel, of Raleigh. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 23rd in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Holt Whitson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Blue Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Yancey County, 856 Georges Fork Road, Burnsville, NC 28714.
