Hattie Sudbery was born on August 9, 1901 at Stickney, SD, to James and Lillian (Sams) Sudbery. Hattie married William Edward Kies on August 26, 1919 in Alexandria, SD. They were the parents of seven children, three of whom died at a very young age. Wm. Edward Kies died of pneumonia on March 14, 1935. Hattie married John H. Bohnenkamp Oct. 15, 1936. Hattie Sudbery was born on August 9, 1901 at Stickney, SD, to James and Lillian (Sams) Sudbery. Hattie married William Edward Kies on August 26, 1919 in Alexandria, SD. They were the parents of seven children, three of whom died at a very young age. Wm. Edward Kies died of pneumonia on March 14, 1935. Hattie married John H. Bohnenkamp Oct. 15, 1936. They farmed near Alexandria, where she helped raise his seven children as well as the two daughters born of this union and her four young children. John died of a heart attack on March 31, 1951. Hattie was affectionately known by family and friends as Grandma Nick after marrying Nick Hoeltzner at Tripp, SD, on Oct. 31, 1953. Nick died in June of 1966. Hattie was a charter member of the Tripp Senior Citizens and an avid quilter, an active member of the Scotland Seniors, the Good Samaritan Auxiliary, the Landmann-Jungman Hospital Auxiliary and St. George Catholic Church. Hattie died on Thursday, March 23, 2000, in Hospice at Landmann-Jungman Memorial Hospital in Scotland at the age of 98 years. Surviving are her son Wayne daughters – Lillian, Donna, Lucene, Mary Jo and Barbara sister Grace Sudbery Krell step-children: Mildred Bohnenkamp Relyea Don Bohnenkamp John Bohnenkamp She is predeceased by her husbands, three young children: and step-children: Irene Bohnenkamp Jarding Evelyn Bohnenkamp Rodriguez Francis Bohnenkamp Earl Bohnenkamp
