Description	:	Hazard T Martin, former mayor of Ravanna and since 1906 cashier of the Ravanna bank, is a son of Richard W. Martin, a native of Livingston county, Missouri. His mother, Victorine (Porter) Martin, was born in Jackson county. He was born in Marion township, Mercer county, April 5, 1869, and with the exception of two years that he lived in Kansas, has spent his life here. He was born in Marion township, Mercer county, April 5, 1869, and with the exception of two years that he lived in Kansas, has spent his life here. After attending rural school at Brush college, he took high school work at Lineville and bookkeeping in the Garden Grove school. He was clerk and assessor of Somerset township one term, town clerk in Ravanna for six years, treasurer for six years, mayor one year, member of the town board for several terms, and has held other positions of public trist. He is treasurer of the I. O. O. F. and Senior Warden of the A. F. & A. M. Mr. Martin's younger business life was divided between farming and merchandising, he at Ravanna and in Kansas. He spent one and a half years in the latter state, but was on a ranch part of this time. In 1902 he became assistant cashier of the Holmes bank and held this position until the Ravanna bank was organized in 1906. He was then elected director and cashier, in which capacities he still serves. Mr. Martin is active in all matters pertaining to the public life of his community.
