Died at the home of her aunt, Mrs. E.G. Pace, of Muscatine, Jan. 7, 1913, aged 22 years, 4 months and 5 days. She leaves to mourn her departure a mother, two brothers and one sister: Bruce, of Burlington, Wis., Rex, of Detroit, Mich., and Golda, at home. While her home was in Letts, she attended the schools in Muscatine, but poor health prevented her from completing the course of study. After her removal to Watertown, Ill., in 1906, she graduated from Brown's Business College in the year of 1908. Just a few weeks before moving from Letts she united with the M.E. church. Hazel, who was spending the winter at the home of a loving aunt, Mrs. John Eliason, will be sadly missed by them as well as a large circle of friends and relatives, but above all she will be missed by her mother, who so tenderly nursed her through so many months of sickness, in the hope that her health might be restored. She spent the past summer in Canada and was greatly benefitted while there and seemed in her usual health, death coming without a moment's warning. She was of a thoughtful and affectionate disposition, always planning for the comfort of others. To know her was to love her. She was a member of the O.E.S. at Silvis, Ill. Her funeral which occurred Thursday p.m., Jan. 9, was conducted by Rev. Berry, assisted by Rev. T.F. Barker, who spoke words of comfort from Mathew 9:24. She is not dead but sleepeth. The choir sang, "Only a Dream." The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. The pall bearers were chosen from among the uncles of the deceased. They were: M.L. Shellabarger, W.A. Shellabarger, W.L. Shellabarger, H.L. Turkington, E.R. Elliott, and John Eliason. Interment was made in Letts cemetery. Friends and relatives who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schaefer and daughters, Misses Elise and Minnie, and son, Harry, of Davenport, Iowa; Mrs. D.Y. Allsbrow, Watertown, Ill.; Mrs. Ed. Axelson, Watertown, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. John Elder, of Nichols, Ia.; Mrs. F.H. Elder and son, James, and daughter, Mrs. Mary Felton, of Nichols, Iowa; Rex Ellis, Detroit, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ellis, Burlington, Wis.; W.A. Shellabarger and son, Crete, Muscatine; Mrs. Rachel Moles, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Tarkington, Columbus Junction.
