Description	:	Hazel Esther Dungan was born near Newark, Nebraska, August 1, 1908, and passed away at her home in Newark, April 24, 1930. She spent her childhood at Newark, and at the age of eight, moved with her parents to Brule, Nebraska; where they lived for four years. They then moved to Curtis, Nebraska, where they resided eight years. Here she grew to womanhood, joining the Methodist church at Curtis early in the year 1924. Read More	Hazel Esther Dungan was born near Newark, Nebraska, August 1, 1908, and passed away at her home in Newark, April 24, 1930. She spent her childhood at Newark, and at the age of eight, moved with her parents to Brule, Nebraska; where they lived for four years. They then moved to Curtis, Nebraska, where they resided eight years. Here she grew to womanhood, joining the Methodist church at Curtis early in the year 1924. She was loyal to the church until her death. She graduated from the Nebraska school of Agriculture at Curtis in 1926. During her senior year, she was president of the Girl's Reserve and won the G.R. Ring which was her most treasured possession. After graduating she taught school in District 78, Frontier county for two years. She then came back to Kearney county and taught the past two years in District 43. She expected to teach at Freedom, Nebraska the coming year. She loved her work and taught school until within three days of her death. She was not considered seriously ill but died very suddenly of heart failure. Hazel was much interested in her church work. She was one of the teachers of the Royal class in the Newark Sunday school, which office she filled in a faithful manner. She was always willing to do her part and her presence in class was an inspiration to her class mates. They will all remember her noble character through life. Not only her classmates but the whole community feel the bereavement deeply. Her pallbearers were chosen from the young men of the community. They were Fred Kahle, Jr., James Hindalong, Hal Hopwood, Dallas Radford, Walter binderup and Bent Johnson. Her funeral sermon was delivered by Mr. Lewis Albrecht, who beside being the principal of the Newark school and teacher of the Sunday school class of which Hazel was assistant, is also an ordained minister. Mr. Albrecht was a warm personal friend of Hazel's. She leaves to mourn her loss a devoted father and mother, a loving sister and a host of relatives and friends.
