Description	:	MATHEWS - Hazel Oliver Mitchem, 93, passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006. She was a resident of Riverside-Mathews Convalescent Center. She was a life member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Foster and Leona Oliver; her husband, Charles Mitchem; son, Linwood Mitchem; a sister, Marie Oliver Thompson; and a half-brother, Wilton Oliver. She is survived by a daughter, Selma M. Tremer; a son, James P. Mitchem and his wife, Jane; a daughter-in-law, Myra Mitchem, all of Cobbs Creek, Va. The family wishes to extend its gratitude to the staff of Riverside-Mathews Convalescent Center for their caring and compassion during her final days. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Haynes Cemetery, Cobbs Creek, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be made to the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 723, Mathews, VA 23109.
