Description	:	Hazel Hannah Corbett, 87, of Mustoe, Virginia, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011, at her home. Born February 4, 1924, in Edray, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Amos and Levie Sabina Hannah. On Wednesday, January 12, 1949, she married Russell Glenn Corbett, Jr., who preceded her in death on May 10, 1988. Mrs. Corbett was a graduate of Monterey High School Class of 1942 and Dunsmore Business College in Staunton, Virginia. Read More	Hazel Hannah Corbett, 87, of Mustoe, Virginia, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011, at her home. Born February 4, 1924, in Edray, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Amos and Levie Sabina Hannah. On Wednesday, January 12, 1949, she married Russell Glenn Corbett, Jr., who preceded her in death on May 10, 1988. Mrs. Corbett was a graduate of Monterey High School Class of 1942 and Dunsmore Business College in Staunton, Virginia. Her years of employment included night auditor at the Homestead, clerk and teller at First and Citizens Bank, Department of Defense (Transportation Division) at the Pentagon, Hannah Lumber Company, Hannah Airport, High's Restaurant, and she retired in 1991 from Highland County Health Department after 30 years of service. She was a member of the former Sieg-Hudson Presbyterian Church in Mustoe, Virginia, and the Young Men and Women's Club in Monterey, Virginia; secretary of the Highland County Chamber of Commerce, the Business and Professional Women's Club; secretary and treasurer of Weekday Religious Education, as well as Highland Historical Society, where she worked diligently to help complete the New History of Highland County, published in 1983. She was an active proponent of developing the once Monterey High School to the now Highland Center, where she served on the executive committee and board of directors. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel High, Marjorie Collins and Lucille Lahti, and three brothers, Hubert Hannah, Fred Hannah and Warren Hannah. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Bruce Avery, of Stevensville, Maryland; a grandson, Christopher Russell Avery, of the home; three sisters-in-law, Janet Marie Marshall and Irene McAllister, both of Mustoe, Virginia and Fritz Corbett of Clifton Forge, Virginia; eight nieces, Elizabeth Volard and Carrington Petras, of Verona, Virginia, Betty Louise Clay, of Helena, Montana, Sharon Fisher, of Marlinton, Carolyn Maydian, of Collinsville, Virginia, Jan Austin, of Roanoke, Virginia, Tonia Comer, of Ashland, Kentucky, and Mary Johnson, of Clifton Forge, Virginia ; four nephews, Kyle Hannah, of Anchorage, Alaska, Donnie McAllister, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Joe Corbett, of Covington, Virginia, and Tony Marshall, of Long Island, Virginia; and great-nieces and nephews, including Joyce Ralston, Michael High, Herbie and Harry Fisher. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, Virginia. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. C. William Cox officiating. Burial will be in Monterey Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Patrick Allebaugh, Lucian Petras, Joe Corbett, Brad Gumm, Mike Ralston and Wade Wilkowske.
