Sayers who passed away Friday morning at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames where she had been a patient since October 3. The Reverend Ernest P. Windman was in charge of the service during which he brought a beautifully consoling message to the family in the loss of a beloved wife and mother. The front of the church was banked with a great many beautiful flowers and the bier was covered with a large number of American Beauty roses. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Carl Irish, Mrs. Glen Newton, Mrs. George Ostrem and Mrs. H. W. Bowers. Harry Christiansen was at the organ playing a number of appropriate hymns. Members of Nevada Chapter No. 296, Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine of Ames and the Rainbow Girls attended the service in a body. The ritualistic service of the Easter Star was exemplified in the church at the close of the service. The pall bearers were Carl Irish, Glen R. Newton, Dr Geo. Ostrem, Henry Ver Wey, Eldon Stratton and Vernon Pruter. Committal was in the Nevada cemetery. The following obituary was read by the Rev. Windman during the funeral service. "Hazel Irene Sewell was born Oct. 4, 1894, the daughter of Edson and Anna M. Sewell on a farm in Jacksonville Township, Chickasaw County, Iowa. She attended the county school until she moved to New Hampton, Iowa with her parents in 1907. She completed her grade and high school education in the Public School of New Hampton and then attended Iowa State University at Iowa City from which institution she graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Home Economics. She taught school in Cascade, Ia., Eldon, Iowa and Ontario, Oregon. On Nov. 1, 1919, Hazel married Harold J. Sayers of New Hampton, Ia. Two children were born, Homer D. Sayers on Dec. 6, 1926 and Betty Ann Sayers on June 9, 1930. Mrs. Sayers is survived by her husband H. J. Sayers, her son, Pvt. Homer D. Sayers of Camp Hood, Texas, daughter Betty Ann Sayers, her mother, Mrs. Anna M. Sewell of New Hampton, Ia., her sister, Mrs. Alice E. Miller of Postville, Ia., and her brother Everett A. Sewell of Webster, S. Dak. Mrs. Sayers was preceded in death by her father, Edson Sewll and her sister, Vida Schmidt. Mrr. Sayers was a member of the Baptist church at New Hampton, Ia. until she affiliated with the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Mrs. Sayers has been an active member of O. E. S. of which she is a Past Worthy Matron. She was a member of the White Shrine and the Legion Auxiliary. Among those from out of town in attendance at the last rites were Private Homer Sayers, Camp Hood, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Sewell, Webster, Sa. Dakota; Mrs. Alice Miller, Postville, Iowa; Mr. Ollie Schmidt, New Hampton, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Thomas, Jefferson, Iowa; Mrs. Roy Green, Mason City; Mrs. Fern Burns, Minneapolis, and Miss Grace Sayers, Gary, Ind.
