Description	:	Hazel L. Couch, age 81, died Friday, April 6, 2001 in Vancouver, WA. She was born July 23, 1919 in Leavenworth to Wilkens and Leona Hatmaker. She was raised in Leavenworth and worked for the local postal service. In 1946, she married Andrew Couch. His job required them to move about the state many times including living in Wenatchee for several years. They finally settled in Washougal in 1971. She was raised in Leavenworth and worked for the local postal service. In 1946, she married Andrew Couch. His job required them to move about the state many times including living in Wenatchee for several years. They finally settled in Washougal in 1971. Hazel became an avid Portland Trailblazer fan and even had season tickets. She was a member of the Washougal United Methodist Church and was well known in her neighborhood. Hazel was also a good seamstress and had made several wedding gowns. Her husband, Andrew, preceded her in death in 1978. Survivors include sons, Robert Couch of Washougal, David Couch of Gresham, OR; daughter, Janet Couch of Beaverton, OR; brother, Oscar Hatmaker of Leavenworth; sister, Peggy Umsted of Savannah, GA; and four grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 10 a.m. at Straub's Funeral Home in Camas. The casket will be open on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be Friday, April 13, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Leavenworth. The casket will be open for viewing on Thursday at Ward's Funeral Home in Leavenworth. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 371, Vancouver, WA 98666.
