Description	:	Hazel Maxine (Morrison) Allen, 91, formerly of Nevada, died Sunday, Jan. 22, in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Nevada First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Burial will be in Conrad Cemetery. Maxine was born Sept. 10, 1914, in Miller, S.D., the daughter of Lawrence and Geneva (Barker) Morrison. She married Arthur J. Miner of Des Moines in 1937. Two children were born to this marriage, Nancy and Kenneth. They were divorced in 1963. Maxine later married John Allen of Nevada in 1969. Maxine attended and graduated from Conrad School in Conrad. She then attended Iowa Methodist Nursing School and graduated in 1936. She was a registered nurse and worked at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames and Story County Hospital in Nevada for more than 30 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nevada, the Order of the Eastern Star, Nevada Historical Society, The Friends of the Library and the Iowa Methodist Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and daughter. She is survived by one son, Kenneth M. Miner (Christel) of Urbandale; one stepson, Carl Allen (Judy) of Nevada; seven grandchildren: Jeanene Campbell (Steve), Mike Clement (Lauren), Shane Miner (Cherise), Travis Miner (Kelly), Stephanie Miner, Daniel Miner, Rebecca Miner; two step-grandchildren: Lori Olson and Matthew Allen; seven great-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers disease Heart of Iowa Chapter and to Nevada Public Library. Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
