Description	:	Hazel P. Carrigg, 85, of Sioux City died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at her residence following a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Revs. Alan Wicks and Dick Dahle officiating. Graveside services will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Hazel P. Carrigg was born Sept. 3, 1918, in Sioux City, the daughter of Peter C. and Hannah (Granning) Hovland. She attended school in Sioux City and graduated from East High. She attended and graduated from comptometer school. She married Donald F. Carrigg on Aug. 7, 1943, at First Lutheran Church in Sioux City. During World War II, she worked as a cashier at Cudahy Packing Company in Sioux City. She later worked part-time at the Milwaukee Railroad in the yardmaster office. Although she worked for a few years, she spent the majority of her life being a wonderful and caring housewife. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, where she had been very active in the Altar Guild, which she chaired for 10 years. She was also a member of Miriam Circle, Ladies Aid and the Sewing Bees and was a member of Delta Phi Gamma Sorority. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. Survivors include her husband, Donald F. of Sioux City; a sister, Delores Andersen of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Crary of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Walter, Alfred, Robert, Lloyd and Harold. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in her name to First Lutheran Church or Hospice of Siouxland.
