Washington Wenatchee World - September 16, 2009 Hazel Pearl (Davis) Floyd, 86, of Chelan, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at Regency Manor in Chelan. She was a longtime resident of the Lake Chelan Valley. She had worked in apple warehouses in Chelan and Manson, retiring from Blue Chelan. She and her husband had also owned A&H Welding Supply from 1984 until 1996. Survivors include her children, Ed Davis of Kent and Steve Davis of Manson; and her brother, Louis Davis of Canby, Ore. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Precht Rose Chapel in Chelan, with Pastor Frank Needles officiating. Arrangements are by Precht Rose Chapel. Hazel P. (Davis) Floyd, 86, a long time resident of the Lake Chelan Valley passed away peacefully Sept. 9, 2009, at Regency Manor, with family members by her side. Hazel was born in Gordon, Neb., to Earl and Pearl (Frantz) Davis on Sept. 18, 1922, while they were on a trip to visit family. She was the seventh of 10 children, having six brothers and three sisters. Her early years were spent living in the Sunnyslope area, near Wenatchee and in Plain. By 1926, the family moved to Manson. Hazel loved to share stores about her family history with many fond memories growing up, such as living in a packing shed in Manson, the car was a Model A and they had a horse and sleigh to carry the wood, which her father cut and delivered. They also cut ice out of the lake and used this sleigh to carry the ice and deliver to others as well. She attended the Boyd District School in Manson. In 1934, her family moved to the Knapps Coulee area. Living most of her life in the Lake Chelan Valley, Hazel graduated from Chelan High School in 1942. She married Edward Davis in May of 1942, the son of Jessee and Emma (Arrance) Davis. The couple resided in Oak Harbor and Benton City for a short time and finally settled back in Chelan. Hazel married Archie P. Floyd, son of Oscar and Myrtle (Odum) Floyd on Aug. 1, 1978, on a trip to Reno, Nev. They built their home in Chelan, on her parents' land, where they operated A & H Welding Supply from 1984 to 1996 and eventually retired. Hazel spent her life working in various apple warehouses in Chelan and Manson, raising her two boys and finally retiring from Blue Chelan. She loved to stay busy in the garden, sewing and knitting, and had been very active with the Eagles Auxiliary, serving as Madam President three different times. She is survived by two sons, Ed and LeeAnn Davis of Kent and Steve and Kristie Davis of Manson; her brother, Louis Davis of Canby, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at 11 a.m., at Precht Rose Chapel, with Pastor Frank Needles presiding. Memorials may be made to Lake Chelan Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
