Description	:	Heber Cummins was born in Dubois County near Birdseye,Indiana,Oct.4,1882.His parents were Woodson & Rebecca(Cox)Cummins.He married Leora Clark who lived in Perry County,near Adyeville,Indiana.They were blessed with daughters,Blanche and Aleen and sons,Ted and Oather Cummins.Heber wanted better farming land than was available in Southern Indiana,so in 1905 he came to Iowa.His sister florence and her husband Albert Grant had located near Akron,so Heber came to their home.He found work on farms near by,helping care for the animals and harvesting the crops.He rented the now Mervin Oetken farm then sent for his family.Leora and their children came to Akron the spring of... Read More	Heber Cummins was born in Dubois County near Birdseye,Indiana,Oct.4,1882.His parents were Woodson & Rebecca(Cox)Cummins.He married Leora Clark who lived in Perry County,near Adyeville,Indiana.They were blessed with daughters,Blanche and Aleen and sons,Ted and Oather Cummins.Heber wanted better farming land than was available in Southern Indiana,so in 1905 he came to Iowa.His sister florence and her husband Albert Grant had located near Akron,so Heber came to their home.He found work on farms near by,helping care for the animals and harvesting the crops.He rented the now Mervin Oetken farm then sent for his family.Leora and their children came to Akron the spring of 1906.They lived on the Oetken farm until buying a farm near Akron(now Elmer Jurgenson farm).The buildings were back in the field when the cummins lived there.Heber decided he should have more land to farm,so they moved five mile father east to the Koch farm.Cummins children continued to attended public school in Akron,traveling back and forth by horse and buggy.Year later heber boughyt the Shedd farm,built new house near the road.Heber also a lover of fine horses,took pride of his good looking team.They lived on the Davidson farm for few years,bought Leo Jammerthal farm south of town for retirement.Always had a large garden and gave many of the Vegetables away.Survivors include;daughters,Blanche & Andrew E.Siebens and their children,Arden E. and Evonna Siebens,Aleen & Bernard Harwig and five sons,Bill,Don,Dennis,Robert and Gary;daughters,Beverly and Kay;sons,Ted & Lela(Krauss)& daughter Jackie,Jack Oather & Avonelle Todd and daughter Anne.
