He was a brother of Mrs. E.J. Riley and brother-in-law of Wilma L. Mohler, both of Carroll. Funeral arrangements are pending. Mr. Ross, a clothier, was mayor of Des Moines in the late 1940's. He was owner of the Heck Ross Uniform Company at 527 East Locust Street, which is now managed by his son, Jack Ross. He was born June 5, 1889, in Indiana, a son of W.T. and Clara Perigo Ross, and came to Carroll as a child. He completed his elementary education here and following his graduation from Carroll High School attended the University of Iowa for a year. On March 16, 1909, he was married in Des Moines to Cora Mohler of Carroll, and they have made their home in Des Moines. He was employed in the Zion Brothers clothing store for several years before purchasing the business which he operated as the Iowa Clothing Company for many years. The firm later specialized in uniforms and was operated as the Heck Ross Uniform Company. Mr. Ross has been semi-retired for the last three years. He suffered a brain hemorrhage and complications early Thursday. Surviving are his wife, Cora; son, Jack, both of Des Moines; and two sisters, Mrs. Riley of Carroll and Mrs. Jewel Kenyon of Olympia, Wash. A brother Robert L. Ross of Cut Bank, Mont., died on March 13 of this year.
