Description	:	Hedwig Marie Allen Hedwig "Hedy" Allen, 92, Hays, died Monday, January 28, 2013 at Hays Good Samaritan Center. She was born October 15, 1920 in Catherine to Philip and Rosa (Karlin) Leikam. She was a retired employee of Al's Chickenette, where she worked for more than 30 years. She ironed countless shirts, cleaned many an office and raised five children. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Secular Franciscans Third Order, both of Hays.. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers Celestine Leikam, Constantine Leikam, Leopold Leikam and Constantine ‘Connie' Leikam; five sisters, Hildegard Leikam, Wilhelmina Leikam, Irene Leikam, Sophia Frederick and Adelinda ‘Linda' Bollig; a son, Gerald Philip Allen and a grandson, Curtis Hertel. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays and burial in St. Catherine Cemetery, Catherine. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 and 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2013 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. There will be a Secular Franciscan Third Order Rosary service at 5:00 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established with the St. Catherine Cemetery Fund or the Good Samaritan Society of Hays. Condolences to the family at www.haysmemorial.com
