Read More	Cherokee Times: April 9, 1920: pg 1 Henry Gadmer was born on the 29th day of November, 1846, among the mountains of Davos county, in the Canton of Graubunden (now known as Grisons) in the eastern part of Switzerland. He grew to manhood in that vicinity, attended the schools, and was confirmed into the German Lutheran church. In 1871, with his mother, three sisters and one brother, he came to the United States and settled at Monticello, Jones county, Iowa. On the 20th of May, 1872, he was united in marriage to Miss Luanda Lathrop. They lived in Jones county till 1879, when they came to Cherokee county, where they have since. Six children were born to them, all of whom survive their father. They are Mrs. Dora Cunningham of Monticello, Iowa; Anna; Lucretia, Mrs. Lucinda VanAmberg, and Kaspar, all of Cherokee county and Mrs.Edna Fraser of Hartford. There are; seven grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. U. Schneider of Stanford, S. D., and Mrs. Lizzie Rieger of Monticello, Iowa, and one brother; Nicholas Gadmer of Sioux City, Iowa. Gadmer was not well during the past fall and winter, being content to stay in the house and rest. He was subject to one ailment, after another, including the influenza, which left him in a weakened condition. Death came to him about. 3:00 o'clock of the morning of Wednesday, March 31, 1920. He was 73 years, 4 months and 2 days of age at the time of his death. The funeral services were held from the home on the afternoon of Thursday, April 1st Rev. W. E. Ellison of Qulmby had charge of the service. Appropriate selections were sung by a mixed quartet. The subject of the sermon was "The Death of a Father". The burial was made in the Silver cemetery.
