Description	:	On last Wednesday evening, July 8, at 6 o'clock p.m. Henry Kuehl very quietly passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Catherine Schade. Mr. Kuehl had been in good health until June 26, when he was suddenly taken sick. He was a devote church member and Rev. Mauch administered Holy Communion on the day he was taken sick. He reached the ripe old age of 83 years, 6 months, and 6 days. Henry Kuehl, son of Jochim and Margeretta (Goettsch) Kuehl was born January 2, 1842, in Barsbeck, Propstei, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Hewas babtized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1862 he was united in marriage to Margarette Dettmer ant to this union five children were born, one son, Henry, died in an accident, In 1876 his first wife passed away and Mr. Kuehl was married a second time to Helene Grube. To this union three childrenwere born, one son, Edward, died some years ago (drowning). They came to America in 1892 and settled in Morgan township, Crawford County. He engaged in farming and was sexton of Morgan township cemetery for sixteen years. For five years he was janitor of Fredona Evangelical church. His second wife died October 27, 1918, and since that time he has made his home with his daughter in Manilla In a time of sickness,or disater he was ever ready to extnd a sympathetic and helping hand that has helped soothe many a trouble fo many ofhis suffering friends in this community. He was a sacrificing Father and a loving husband and his death caused profound regret and sorrow among a large circle of friends. He leaves to morn, six children, namely; Mrs. Catherine Schade, Manilla; Mrs Emma Arp, Davenport; Mrs. Anna Stoltenberg, Oregon; John Kuehl, Bloomfield, Nebraska; Carl Kuehl, Summerville, Missouri; and Emil Kuehl of Schleswig. Also 22 grandchildren and 6 great grand children. Brief services were held in Manilla Friday morning and at 2 o'clock in Fredona Evangelical Church in Schleswig, Rev. W.Mauch officiating.
