Description	:	Henry was the son of Dick John Dunekacke and Sophie (Mahestadt) Dunekacke. born in Asendorf, Germany one of seven children. He came to the U.S. with his family when he was nine years old and settled in Johnson, Nebraska. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Zion Lutheran Church on April 22, 1928. He married Dec. 24, 1942 to Hazel Bohling. 3 children were born to this union. In 1942 Henry entered the United State Army, where he served in the infantry during WWII in Europe. He came to the U.S. with his family when he was nine years old and settled in Johnson, Nebraska. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Zion Lutheran Church on April 22, 1928. He married Dec. 24, 1942 to Hazel Bohling. 3 children were born to this union. In 1942 Henry entered the United State Army, where he served in the infantry during WWII in Europe. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He died in the Tecumseh Hospital after he had been admitted 3 days earlier. He reached the age of 88 years, one month and 11 days. Preceding him in death were, his parents, one brother, Fred, and one sister, Ann Philpott. Surviving him were his children and families, and 6 grandchildren. Also sisters, Sophia Hitzeman, Tecumseh, Dora Rieken of Tecumseh and Marie Rohrs of Johnson. brother, Arnold and wife of Johnson. Services were Feb. 21, 2002 at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment was in the church cemetery. Military graveside honors were provided by Bender-Reese American Legion Post #330 of Johnson, Nebraska.
