Saturday afternoon and evening Mr. Sprague had complained of a pain in his left side. Along toward morning he got up and sat in a chair for a time, and finally asked his wife what time it was. Just then the clock struck four. He wanted to dress and go outdoors but his wife urged him not to do so. However, he put on his shoes and trousers and went out. A short time after Mrs. Sprague, not hearing him return, went to the door and called. On receiving no response she went out doors to search for him. Seeing the door to the barn partly open she went there and found her husband lying on the floor near the door. She called her neighbor, John Jackson, who went over at once to assist, but Mr.Sprague was dead, the result coming from heart disease. About 7 o'clock Justice McKinley, in the absence of Coronor Crane, viewed the body and questioned three witnesses, together with Dr. R.C.Warne, who was also called, and adjudged the death as resulting from the manner stated. H.C. Sprague was born in St.Lawrence county, N.Y., Oct.25,1833, and moved to Fayette county, Iowa in 1855. He was married to Miss Sarah POWERS Sept.14,1863, from which union five children were born, three of whom are living: William, Rose and Mrs.Florence Andrews. The deceased fought through the civil war and enlisted in the 5th Iowa volunteer regiment and served with that until June 1884 when he was transferred to the Iowa volunteer cavalry, remaining with that until he was mustered out in August 1865. He came to South Dakota in the spring of 1882, and located on a farm in Butler township, Sanborn county, 12 miles north of Mitchell, where he has lived ever since, until last spring, when he..(article cut off)
