She was born March 30, 1922, in Granite Falls, Wash. She grew up in Peshastin, Wash., where she met and married Roy William Gere in 1942. They spent their married life in Eastern and Western Washington, finally settling down in Snoqualmie where they raised their four children. She was born March 30, 1922, in Granite Falls, Wash. She grew up in Peshastin, Wash., where she met and married Roy William Gere in 1942. They spent their married life in Eastern and Western Washington, finally settling down in Snoqualmie where they raised their four children. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Hilda Marquardt Kirstein; her husband of 53 years, Roy who passed away in 1996; and her daughter, Linda who passed away in 1990. She is survived by her son, Leonard (Dorothy) Gere of Newport, Maine; two daughters, Marsha (Tim) Doser of Caldwell, Idaho, and Ruth (Dan) Gray of Denver, Colo.; brothers, Vern Kirstein of Yakima and Dick (Pat) Kirstein of Rearden, Wash.; and one sister, Betty Nickerson of Spokane. Helen has eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Helen loved spending time in her garden and serving her church. A memorial service was held Dec. 15 at the Snoqualmie Church of the Nazarene. Family members extend their sincerest appreciation and gratitude to Evergreen Hospice, especially to Jeanne Warner. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Women's Ministry - Snoqualmie Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 2014 Snoqualmie, WA 98065.
