Description	:	Mrs. J. G. Smith passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Papez, Thursday, July 3rd. She had been in ill health for a long time and several weeks ago was brought from her home on the farm northwest of town to her daughter's home. She was a very great sufferer and her passing brought her the relief that the physician's skill and loving hands could not secure for her. Helen A. Smith passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Papez, Thursday, July 3rd. She had been in ill health for a long time and several weeks ago was brought from her home on the farm northwest of town to her daughter's home. She was a very great sufferer and her passing brought her the relief that the physician's skill and loving hands could not secure for her. Helen A. Downey was born at Bushnell, Illinois, June 14th, 1864. Here she spent her girlhood days, until nineteen years of age, when she moved to Red Oak, Iowa. She was married on December 23, 1881, to Jesse G. Smith. To them were born three children, the eldest dying in infancy. The others, Lodemia A. and Harvey L., with the husband, remain to mourn her loss. She became a member of the Presbyterian church during her girlhood and remained a member until coming to Cedar Rapids, Nebraska, where she united with the Episcopal church. Mrs. Smith had been a resident of the Albion community for a number of years and had many friends who unite with the members of the family and other relatives in mourning her passing. The funeral was held from the Papez home Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. B. J. Trickey of the Congregational church and the body laid at rest in Rose Hill cemetery.
