She played the piano, accordion and marimba... Read More	HELEN ARMS Helen Adelle Arms Age 85 of Cedar Brook South, The Glen, Lancaster, PA died Tuesday January 22, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Arms was an educational missionary with the United Methodist Church in Iquique, Chile for ten years. Upon returning to the United States in 1960, she worked at the Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church at 475 Riverside Drive, New York City, NY. Later she worked for Campfire Girls traveling throughout the United States on their behalf. She was a creative artist, painting land and seascapes. She also painted china. She played the piano, accordion and marimba and enjoyed music. She wrote articles in inspirational magazines and gave motivational talks to church groups and others throughout her life. Her inquisitive mind and creative spirit touched many lives. She was active in the United Methodist Church all her life at the local, annual conference and national board levels. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul on October 18, 2003. Surviving are her son, Ronald Arms, his wife, Julie of Alexandria, VA; her daughter, Judith Antoine, her husband, Kenel of Syracuse, NY; and her son, Randall Arms, of Iquique, Chile. She is also survived by a sister, Jean Hennesse of Mt. Pleasant, IA ; and 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. The family wants to extend its special thanks to Leigh Costarella who cared for Mrs. Arms with skill and grace during her final years. It also thanks the staff of Cedar Brook South at the Glen at Willow Valley. They provided professional care with patience and understanding. In similar fashion it is grateful to the staff of Aseracare Hospice of Mountville, PA. They accompanied Mrs. Arms and her family at all hours of day and night during the dying process with dedication and concern. All of these people exemplify caregiving at its best. Interment took place at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE. at 10 am on January 25, 2008 at a private family service. At Mrs. Arms request her children are planning a memorial service this spring in Lancaster, PA. The occasion will celebrate the creativity, music, art, joy and hope Mrs. Arms shared with others. The gathering will include great grandchildren, grandchildren, children, Chilean friends, relatives from Kentucky, Iowa, New York, Delaware and Virginia as well as friends from Oceanside, NY, Wilmington, DE and Lancaster, PA, places where she lived many years. Those planning, as well as those unable to attend are invited to write remembrances and create a token of celebration to share on the occasion. The family will coordinate a lively program intended to honor the artist, musician, author, painter, speaker and teacher they were privileged to know as mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, teacher, and friend. A meal will be part of the program so that all who want to share their joyful and creative memories of this remarkable woman will have an opportunity to do so. The time and place will be circulated electronically to those sending condolences and announced at other appropriate time and venues shortly. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Aseracare hospice, 315 Primrose Lane, Suite 101, Mountville, PA 17554 or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, New York 10001.
